If only to hear Suzy Menkes use the word “sucks,” this brief exploration into the impact blogs are having on fashion is worth a watch. Of note, Menkes reminds consumers to remember that bloggers are often partial to particular brands, and increasingly susceptible to “seeding,” i.e., promoting a brand or product at the behest of its maker or marketing team. More broadly, the idea that new platforms and technologies are transforming the marketing mix from monologues to “conversations” is by now well known. Still, I think it’s worth pointing out that this is The Choosy Beggar‘s reason for being — to encourage conversations with a unique focus on value. [Selectism]
