Update: No press or pics inside the sale, so don’t expect complete coverage… unless an enterprising reader delivers big.

Armani Warehouse Sale – Metropolitan Pavilion – 123 W 18th St btw 6th & 7th – 4th Fl – Thurs 3pm-8pm, Fri-Sat 10am-8pm – CREDIT CARDS ONLY – 212-463-0200 – Map

  1. Just got back. Picked up 3 ties (70% off). Pretty good selection of men’s suits in a variety of sizes. The clothes are 70% off for the most part. I was looking for tuxedos, and they have very few in odd sizes, so don’t bother if you are looking for the same. Also a good collection of men’s shoes and ballistic nylon style bags. Go with a lot of time to spare since it took 20 minutes to get in and another 15-20 to check out.

  2. @Greg – the selection of shirts was good when I got there. Lots of shirts in all different sizes. Some of them were unfortunately overly stylized shirts that no one in their right mind should wear. But there were some very nice dress shirts there also. Keep in mind that I saw boxes of stuff underneath the tables (hidden by table cloths) that the staff accessed from time to time to get additional inventory. So we may be looking at a restock sometime soon. I did not confirm whether that is the case though.

  3. about 2 racks of shirts when i went today at 4pm, 20min wait outside. maybe 20 styles of shoes, oxfords, wingtips, boots, some exotic skins. definitely a lot of menswear. but i didn’t think it was worth it, because the price is rather high (since the discount is off of original retail price). they took additional cuts today, to 70% off accessories and shoes (ties and RTW stayed at 70% off). wallets of all kinds (bifold, long pocket style, etc) at $350-550 (then 70% off) — they provide boxes at checkout, so maybe good for gifting. shoes ranged about $500-1000, then 70% off (a table of some “sample” mens shoes marked $75, but it’s all bedroom-styled moccasins and rather ugly). lots of blazers, some outerwear (but not much winter coats), jeans, trousers. there were quite a lot of bags, nylon to leather, messengers, briefcases, some duffles; i don’t remember the prices. ties were $120 for Emporio and $145 for GA (all then 70% off). scarfs, $150-250, were going fast at 70% off; mostly geometric, light-weight, acrylic-blend styles. underwear (sealed) 50% off, but there were 3 big boxes filled with opened underwear marked at $10. one SA told me that they won’t be doing these sales anymore in the city after this one, and all surplus is going to outlet straight after the season; i don’t know if i believe her. honestly, i found the deals lacking, because the Barneys Warehouse this past Sept offered better prices on the brand. given how they took additional cuts today, i wouldn’t be surprised if they take it to 80% off by tomorrow, which would make some good deals (but then you’d be dealing with weekenders from out of town — last year, i arrived on Sat afternoon and didn’t even bother because the line was half-way down the block).
