Uniqlo Sets +J S/S 2011 Release Date

— Fri, 14th January 2011 —

Mark your calendars, fellas! The release of +J Spring/Summer 2011 — you know, the line that’s bankrupting Uniqlo with its insanely consumer-friendly cost-to-quality ratio — is slated for Wednesday, 1/26, at ***8am***. Expect the most coveted pieces to disappear within a day or two. No word on pricing, but S/S 2010 outerwear ran from $50-to-$150; shirts cost $40; pants $40-to-60; and knitwear $30-to-$130. Check out our photo-rich review of — and reader reactions to — F/W 2010 here.

  1. Kind of let down by most of the men’s offerings as whole… The stuff for the women is reeeeaaal nice.

But, whatever, I’ll still be in line.

  2. 7:47am, 5 people in line. People are saying they won’t open until 10.

  3. So John, what say you? From the pictures and descriptions I’ve seen and red, doesn’t sound like there is anything I want to add to my closet yet.

  4. I dropped by around 3pm today (no lineup, not busy in the +J section…)

I didn’t see anything that intriguing today..and prices seem to have gone up for a lot of outerwear etc. over F/W 2010.

That being said, I picked up a few F/W 2010 +J dress shirts, marked down to $19 from $49.

  5. I think it was definitely a bit lackluster overall. The suiting in general was great as expected but definitely pricey… The military parka (the one with all the pockets) does come in dark brown and navy which looked better than the khaki, imo. They’re waiting to roll out some colors and styles until the end of March–apparently the exact date will be announced online. From what I saw the missing things include the military parka in olive green (I hope?), white/beige suit jackets and shorts, military jacket in blue and tomato, short-sleeved dress shirts.

They do have this new system by the dressing room where they have little cards with photos of the garments. You fill it out with what size and color you want along with your name and phone number, and they’ll call you 3-4 days before its expected replenishment.

PS: Good deals on the second floor where F/W +J (in Japanese sizing) has been moved and last year’s S/S still remain. A decent amount of blue long sleeve shirts in M (3-4 white shirts) are now $19.90 down from ~$50.

  6. I’m told – on the sly – that February will see a second shipment.

I, too, found this men’s collection a miss. Whereas Fall was BRILLIANT. But we ought not expect only successes.
And yes, there IS price creep. Cashmere cardigans for $229. Not exactly discount, is it?
Still, I’m glad that Sander is at the helm. There’s sure to be fine garb in our future.

    Tongue Untied

  7. Thanks for the review John.

I thought the 2010 S/S collection had some nice pieces, but didn’t end up picking up anything.

  8. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added”
checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get three emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that
    service? Appreciate it!
