Dolce & Gabbana / D&G Sample Sale

— Wed, 23rd March 2011 —

Thursday through Sunday, 3/24-3/27, Metropolitan Pavilion is hosting a Dolce & Gabbana and D&G sample sale featuring up to 80% off stock. This semiannual event is typically a solid resource for suits and formal wear. Expect long lines due to the small elevator at Metropolitan Pavilion. Here’s what a Dolce & Gabbana sale looks like.

Dolce & Gabbana Sample Sale – Metropolitan Pavilion – 123 W 18th St between 6th & 7th – 4th Fl – Thurs 9am-7pm, Fri-Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-1pm – 877-703-4872 – Map

  1. this is a consistently good sale, but best for tall, slim guys (which is the brand’s preferred build). prices were across the board… 70% off for 2010 items, 80% for 2009, 90% for 2008 and earlier. i saw dress shirts ranging from $325 on the low end to $735 (with additional discounts as noted based on season). trousers $500-1200. some of the lower end D&G suits were $1400 with the higher end line starting at $2000 and above. blazers hovered around $2-3000. shoes were actual samples and worn, without boxes. small bin of ties left today (last day), mostly solids; just under $200 i think. there’s a LOT to sift through. the D&G line tends to be over designed and seems meant for the euro disco crowd, but the mainline Dolce&Gabbana is (imo) beautifully designed and well made, and a lot of it is conservative enough for most anyone. the problem is that even with the discount, it’s still quite overpriced; seriously, $735 (-70% off) is ridiculous for a plain, striped dress shirt at a sample sale. no additional discounts were made on the final day. the sale is over now, but they always hold them every March (and sometimes a fall one in Sept), so it’s something to look forward to.

  2. Pretty much in agreement with Iseya. Discount % is high, but overall nothing falls below the $100 – this is including swimwear, t-shirts, etc. Best deal were shoes – found a couple of nice ones (mainly size 44/11) for $150-$200.

  3. I got 2 pairs of pants for $39 each and I saw a $2000 suit for $200 so I think it was a pretty great sale.
