Jil Sander Sample Sale

— Fri, 14th October 2011 —

Next Tuesday through Saturday, 10/18-10/22, get to 8 Crosby St for that (increasingly less) rare Jil Sander sample sale featuring up to 80% off present and past seasons’ stock. No invitation was required last time, and we don’t expect it will be this time, either. The official invite, however, says otherwise.

Jil Sander Sample Sale – 8 Crosby St btw Howard & Grand – 4th Fl – 10am-6pm Daily – Map

  1. If invitation is required, I’m willing to pay to use someone’s invite, just put it out there, lol.

  2. I was uninformed about juuuust how expensive Jil Sander was. $700 for a T-shirt. great.

  3. jil sander has a nice blue vneck t for under $100 this season.

last time this sale was strong for women, weak for men. best bet is shoes for men, prob around 100.

  4. If you went on the opening day, at opening, you did need an invite. Later in the week the door guy was gone.

  5. I’m wondering specifically about footwear for guys (styles, sizes, prices). If anyone goes please report back!

  6. The only thing to report at the moment is a line that goes around the block and hasn’t moved for like half an hour….

  7. And apparently it’s 1 out 1 in, with an invite to get in, there are about 80 people here, you do the math.

  8. They were checking invites in the first hour or so, but then just gave up.

Very very boring selection for men, dominated by huge sizes, way worse than last time. The women’s selection is pretty good though.

  9. Define huge sizes please. Can you elaborate a bit more on the selection?

  10. I saw a lot of huge sizes as well, at least 80% of the stuff there (suits, pants, shirts, knits) are size 52+, a lot of very meh trenches, a couple of nice jackets, but again, in gigantic sizes.

There were maybe 2 ties, as I remembered they were pretty ugly. Your better bet would be the shoes, which seemed to have a wider size range, but I personally didn’t like any of them.

Basically, if you thought the mens stuff from last sale was bad, then don’t even bother going this time.

  11. Does anyone know if they bring new merchandise in tomorrow and the rest of the week? There were only a few pieces in my size (50/40, 50/34, 41/16) when I was there this morning…

  12. I know they restocked once in the middle of the sale last time, don’t know about this time.

  13. Still a line at 10 AM today, waiting about 30-40 min to get in.
Shoes are the best option. Got a $795.00 Black Oxford for $119.25.
Lots of white dress shirts mostly 15 1/2 , 15
    few coats
Some nice jeans also in 32, 34.

  14. Nick, what types of coats and what sizes? Also what size shoes? Thanks.

  15. Not many coats, trench style mostly size 52
Shoes were all 8.5 or 9.5 that I saw
    some 11.5 also

  16. i’m frankly surprised at how little is left as of day 2. by the afternoon, there were maybe 4-5 styles of blazers left, 3-4 pieces of light outerwear, 3-4 styles of shirts, trousers, a table of denim (indigo, white, and black), some knits. the shoes are really picked over, maybe only 15 styles left (many just one of — although some plain conservative oxfords available). no bags for men, and very few small leather goods. be aware that clothing sizes were all 50 and above. they did not ask for invite this afternoon.

  17. Actually, I noticed that a few neon-colored lightweight coats/double-breasted blazers that were used in the SS11 menswear show, were on the women’s RTW racks, the cuts are pretty masculine if you ask me. I saw a few guys trying them on. Maybe those are not the same pieces or maybe they decided to put them into production for women’s RTW, just mentioning, if you happen to be interested in those.

  18. If anyone wants a really really nice black trench size 54 (that is just a little big on me, since I am typically 52/42), please let me know.
