John Varvatos Fall Sale

— Mon, 21st November 2011 —

Beating Barneys to the punch, John Varvatos plans to initiate 50% F/W markdowns on Wednesday, 11/23. We’re talkin’ in-store and online. Price cuts will increase through the end of the year — available stock and sizes will not. Barneys, meanwhile, is slated to take 40% off select stock beginning Friday, 11/25.

  1. They are having a private sale of 40% off now til Wednesday. Just tell them you received the email. It’s mostly for people on their mailing list

  2. Their stuff is perpetually on sale. I don’t think anyone pays full price for varvatos. Might have something to do with the quality…

  3. Yeah, it does seem extraordinarily overpriced. $300 for an ill-fitting shirt made in China, for instance. The brand really needs to reconsider its sizing; their small fits like a large.

  4. Is the 50% off confirmed? No one at the stores is confirming that. I heard that shoes run 1/2″ bigger too

  5. I love Varvatos, I usually order a size down for the shirts. The shoes are amazing and do run a bit large.

  6. I think Varvatos is good and bad. Pants, shoes, and blazers are top notch. Knits are awful, and shirts are nothing special–especially at that price. Fits are mostly a bit relaxed, good for my thirty-something ex-rocker body: I’m probably his target demographic.

  7. “thirty-something ex-rocker body” = chubby chubby two-by-four, couldn’t get through the kitchen door! BURN!

  8. The John Varvatos main line Italian shoes are really nice. Are these included in the 40% off?

All his other stuff is pretty so-so though. I’ve never seen anything in the more affordable Star USA line that I liked.

  9. I like his clothes… But, you need to be able to rock-it! Sorry Pops

  10. Yes, my 34 year old self can’t “rock” Varvatos. Jesus H Christ. I’m 180lbs and 5′ 11″ whose at the gym 4-5 times a week. Not a waif, but hardly chubby. Varvatos has to be to at least 50, is bald, and doesn’t have a model body. Get over yourself. There will be a time when you hit 30…let’s talk about clothes (and deals), not personal insults when you don’t even know the other person; much less what he looks like. F%*& you.

  11. Rock it? Oh give me a bloody break, if only his clothes were 1/100 as interesting as his campaigns. There is barely any design in his clothes, same ol’ boredom season after season with super mediocre quality. I don’t know where exactly does he get his clientele, but their taste must be bad enough to be having any of his bs aesthetic.

  12. Went to the soho store today. The items on sale included mosty JV USA items, a few pairs of shoes.
All the stuff I wanted was still full price. There was one item I wanted that was full price, so I paid it.
Likely to sell out. The $3K down leather jacket is still full price, no takers so far. The soho store is like a desert, all the good stuff is gone. You’ll have better luck at the bowery location.

  14. JV clothes, in my opinion, are like all designers. You find one or two pieces that look great on you. You buy them and that’s it. There isn’t a single designer out there that I would own every piece of the current collection. JV knits are below par. But, check out that leather puffy jacket… The price is insane though!

  15. Cary Grant’s style is simply icnioc, and instead of blindly following each trend that passes, I think we should rather be working towards creating an icnioc look for ourselves that is all our own 🙂
