The WSJ today reports on men’s rising hemlines, ur, pant lengths, which it believes reflect “a new era in menswear.” [WSJ.com]

“Guys are the peacocks again,” consultant Helen Job tells the Journal. “There seems to be a feeling that men are getting a little more experimental and that things are speeding up from the time you see things on the runways to the time you see guys wearing the trends on the street.”

A word of advice from Men.Style editor Tyler Thoreson before having all your pants hemmed: Try the roll. “When you roll them up, you can unroll them if you change your mind or if the trend goes out of style.”

We certainly advocate the roll as an extremely cost-effective and relaxed style twist.

While the ways of the world can be puzzling, we do our best, whenever possible, to avoid looking like schmucks. But, going around pronouncing Polo Ralph Lauren like the name of the busty Italian actress all but condemns one to that fate.

To prevent such embarrassing gaffes in the future, take a moment to examine the proper pronunciations of top designers, graciously prepared by new men’s style magazine Valet.
