As it turns out, the Isaia sample sale we covered in early May wasn’t the company’s official sample sale. The official event is going down Monday through Friday, 6/14-6/18, and will feature up to 75% off the highest quality suits, sport coats, shirts, ties, knits, trousers, … Expect to find lightweight wool charcoal suits with blue deco stripe, classic grey pinstripe suits, and windowpane pattered suits all down from $3,100 to about $900; lightweight, water and wrinkle resistant cashmere sport coats down from $3,400 to $800; and cotton pinstriped and solid white dress shirts down from $400 to $130.

Ah, Macy’s. What can we say about the legendary department store? It knows how to throw a kick-ass parade! It’s over 150 years old! Its prices are always reasonable. The problem with Macy’s, however — aside from its location in the armpit that is Herald Square — is its fundamental inability to measure up to New York’s high standards. Style-wise, we advocate a relative middle-ground, which Macy’s might occupy in, say, Toledo, Ohio. In its hometown, however, the store’s patent-leather square-toe shoes, pleated cubicle-khakis, and drab basics just don’t cut it. So, why even mention Macy’s spring sale, featuring up to 50% off “ready-to-wear,” shoes, and accessories (along with free shipping)? Well… it’s not all bad.
