Raw Gap

— Fri, 24th April 2009 —

Whoa, Gap just relaunched its 1969 denim line — minimally adorned, medium-weight raw-denim for under $60! — which Material Interest appears to kinda-sorta endorse. Could these puppies give $160 A.P.C.’s a run for their converted currency? We’re going to have to wait ’til August, when they hit shelves, to find out.

**Update: One just found the new ’69’s in store, and he sounds like a very happy customer.**

Old School

— Thu, 23rd April 2009 —

Friday and Saturday, $20 will get you into this season’s Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show, featuring some 80 vintage local and national dealers. Bring your imagination.

One man’s opinion: “Went to the last one and it was complete rubbish. There were maybe 2 or 3 vendors with men’s clothing, and just like the women’s clothing, anything that looked halfway decent cost at least twice what it’s worth. Unless they’ve greatly changed the vendor line-up, I highly recommend skipping this event.”
