Bad Tidings

— Fri, 9th January 2009 —

Here’s a fascinating development in the world of e-tailing: Despite claims of strong performance, eluxury.com is shutting down retail operations. Why? “Because many of the brands it sells have developed their own online presences,” according to a rep for luxury brand company and eluxury owner LVMH. No matter how they spin it, this news can’t bode well for other e-tailers. [WWD]

The site hasn’t shuttered yet, however, and is still taking an additional 30% off already marked down items HERE.
